Time is a Liar

Time is a Liar

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

Time is a liar-
covering in shadow
what lies in waiting.
A wait that begs
to make you look
back
with a rose-colored hue-
obstructing all
unimaginable acts
from view.
Shielding pain
but in vain-
its motive unlike
what it reveals-
so clear,
to unravel the heart
again and again
until it can restart-
breaking the pattern
and remembering the sins.

Time is a liar,
remember this-
when your brain
is drenched in fire
and all that you're left
with, in the end
is mire.

Find what's real.
Find what's true-
and don't let time do
what it did here,
to you.
