Spring, Awakening

Spring, Awakening

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

The stillness of the earth
starts to stir.
Her meadows littered with
brown leaves
and dormant grass
are starting to wake up,
at last.
She doesn't quite have her shine on yet,
but her signs of Life are clear,
getting set.
The distant pecking of wood on a tree,
the chirps and peeps from critters,
in harmony.
The buds anew,
poking through-
The layer of old
shaking off the cold.
With stirring above
and stirring below-
Within me now
the stirring starts slow-
awakening within,
a light that's been so dim.
Welcome, spring
we've been waiting for you,
herein.
