Stare There

Stare There

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

I noticed
your pause,
I noticed your linger.

Your steady stare
locked me there-
Despite the crashing waves and
rocky sea.
It captured me, and I'll never
be
set free.

My craving for your cartlidge
can't be quenched;
The force of my thirst,
spared no reprieve
in your presence.

I left you without pursuit,
left unsatisfied, a point made
moot.
Your stare and scent all that I carry,
at least until we're both unmarried.
