Rain Today

Rain Today

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

The rain came today,
bringing with it
a surfacing-
release of
pain
unknown.

It dripped upon
brittle thoughts
frozen in drought
and
softened them-
let them out.

I walked out in it
without my umbrella-
braced myself and
allowed release,
not even recalling from
whence they went to
seed.

Now I watch from
a safe place
the drops fall and
gently replace
what was in the space-
breathing in,
without weight.
