Dear Precious Human

Dear Precious Human

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

Your pain
Your loneliness
They masquerade as aggressive opposition
A desperation to engage
Engagement of any kind,
blisses out your mind

But I see you
I see you exert the energy of your being
Into pushing
Pushing forwards
Pushing yourself
Pushing away
But when you're at your most vulnerable
I see you too
Needing
Pleading
Open
And it captures me
Askew

Right before it closed it reeled me in
Now it's locked again
With me inside
I can't get out
I tried

You want to let me out
But can't
So here I sit
Longing
Stuck
Looking more at you from
The inside out
While you pretend I'm not there
And I feign a pout

With time I'll forget where I am
Fall back into where
I began
But you
You will fall
And at that time
Crawl
To the nearest plea

But there won't be space
Because here I'll be
Waiting
the only one to see your face
in reality
