Time's Layers

Time's Layers

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

Time's layers do not omit,
do not conspire
ancient feelings and desires.

They remain, untouched
the same,
like a frozen window pane.

Behold, all that it contains.

The heart does not forget.
The heart cannot repeal
the way you looked at me,
how you made me feel.

Beyond science.
Beyond reason.
Your stare unlocking
the spark, underground.
Awakened and raw,
Unfaded and sound.

You saw it, you found
what was frozen,
not dead.
In fact,
beyond alive and
beyond our grasp,
in the end.

Always beating.
Always there.
Beneath time's layers,
ready to be bared.

Not a big rhyme fan in general..especially when it feels forced...but this rhyme works perfectly...great scheme, subtle...nice near rhyme in spots...and such terrific wording here.
this is quite good poetry...it feels like the words come quite naturally to you.
one poem and i am a fan.

Oooh, I like this one! Don't ask me why... it's ... ineffable.

This was a lovely first read of the evening. I particularly like the last word "bared," so many words to select, and you choose this one. I love it because you describe time as if something to endure. Great job!
