Talent

Talent

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

hey talent.
you're lingering,
tepid but savory.
I let you simmer
just long enough to make some stew, but not feel
blue.
I stare when you walk
but you can't see.
your shoulders make me smile,
pointy, concave and lean
create a space just right
for me to swoon and fall
free
I take a step back,
biting my lip
you'll take me down drip by drip
and hold me there, steady
ready, petting heavy
until I explode and hone
on my own,
leaving you there to decide
if you should flee or
collide.
spark by spark you'll touch the sky
smile
and wave
goodbye.
