Passage of Dreams

Passage of Dreams

A Poem by Kristle Marfori

Never have my dreams abandoned me,
But for now,
It as though they have retreated behind the clouds,
And I have lost them.
I have had many stormy nights,
In many lands other than my own,
But never have I so passionately cried for what was familiar.
I have experienced pain and survived.
How much more can a woman take?
Is there a limit to mercy or forgiveness?
Is there another way to learn than through experiencing first-hand?
How many times can a woman expose her heart,
To find herself lost even more?
How many times can she plead for answers
To unanswered questions
Only to find them further unanswered?
When there is nothing left,
Will truth reveal itself?
Or is this but the hopes of a young girl
Waiting for her lover to return?
Or the dreams of a young man
Seeking treasures in the sand?
Can she hold onto dreams,
As long as they are written down
And cherishes words
rolled underneath her pillow?
