Jack-O-Lantern Heart

Jack-O-Lantern Heart

A Poem by Kristen Grace

Scoop away all feeling
Hollow out my heart
I feel the knife within me
Sharpening with thought
You scar me ever slightly
I try to play my part.

Is this what trust is about,
A jack-o-lantern heart?
Why can't I just be happy
I am breaking apart.

Now I will leave this
But memory lives on.
Someday soon I will create this,
A smile on my heart.

Why can't I just be happy
I am breaking apart.

A question most, if not all have asked, but few have answered. Even those we love have different ideas of what love truly is and those ideas can differ greatly. If someone who cares for you breaks your heart, then he was not worthy to hold it close in the first place. I won't insult you by saying the usual hollow words of there will be others o you will get over it, because that's all they are, hollow.
Hopefully you will find happiness again, but for now that is just more useless information and no help at all.
So much feeling in so few words, wonderfully spoken. Thank you for sharing this.
