Sandcastles in the Sand

Sandcastles in the Sand

A Poem by kristen0928

With sandy toes and
Knotted hair
I watched her
Build a sandcastle

She built it up with all her might
She sweat and strategized
She imagined and dreamed
She decorated and worked
Diligently through the
Feverish, relentless July haze

I watched as the waves came
barreling down
Turning her sandcastle to mush
The girl, she sighed
And said, oh my
I guess I'll start again

At first I couldn't discern
how she seemed so unaffected
I questioned her
Excuse me miss
But aren't you upset?
You worked so hard to build it up
And now it's gone again

She smiled
Oh so knowingly
And said
Of course I am
But I'll spend my whole life
Patiently
Building sandcastles
In the sand

About
I love writing and reading. I have trouble sleeping. I think too much and love too deep. I have too many feelings and ponderings about life, and write therapeutically (as I'm sure most people do) more..

Running Running
