How Does a Heart Beat

How Does a Heart Beat

A Poem by kristen0928

How does a heart beat
Outside of its chest

Indefinitely bleeding
Not a single days rest

How does the body cope
Without its own heart
When there is no hope
Where do you even start
Putting back together
What's fallen apart

If everything is splintered
Broken and shattered
And you no longer even know
What's the matter

How does a heart beat
Outside of its chest
Relentlessly bleeding and
Cringing for you
How does my heart beat
While inside of you

Very painfully. I really like this poem, I feel the pain spoken of and I identify a lot with your "About Me." The one thing that I feel like this poem suffers from is that your rhymes felt forced for the most part. Even though it always made sense, the rhymes created stopping points rather than allowing the poem to flow. My suggestion, as this was suggested to me and I found that it made my poetry come alive, is try to create a completely free verse poem. Rather than being confined to using words that fit a structure, you can create an almost unfiltered stream of consciousness which will allow you to totally express yourself. I like your thoughts though and I intend to read more from you

About
I love writing and reading. I have trouble sleeping. I think too much and love too deep. I have too many feelings and ponderings about life, and write therapeutically (as I'm sure most people do) more..
