Malevolent Night

Malevolent Night

A Poem by kristen0928

Night
The cynical devil
Claws and mangles
What's left of my heart
Wildly and fiercely feasting on its sorrow

Sinister night
Dredges thoughts of you back into my soul
Holding my attention hostage
It coerces me to see
Everything I want
Everything that isn't and cannot be

Where my mind feigns happiness
The malevolent night thrusts
Evil truths

Until sorrow seeps from my eyes
Leeching whatever hope I had away
The devil night
I cannot keep at bay

Gotta love that title. A dark, sad and heart-wrenching tale of a depressed, love-lorn soul...

Very good, Kristen. The title of the poem and the first stanza grabbed my attention immediately.

I adore poems concerning the darker and sadder nature of Love, the darker, the better...

I also have an immense amount of trouble and frustration in the act of sleeping, well more like trying to sleep when my mind races a mile a minute and refuses my pleas to cease and desist.

Excellent words. I remember as a child, being frightened of the dark especially on stormy nights. And this poem captures that almost forgotten memory for me.

(typo: cynical)

I can relate to this feeling, being an insomniac myself, I find that nights are the most excruciatingly painful especially being alone and having to think and wait for sleep to come..
You have captured the feeling beautifully..

About
I love writing and reading. I have trouble sleeping. I think too much and love too deep. I have too many feelings and ponderings about life, and write therapeutically (as I'm sure most people do) more..
