My Love

My Love

A Poem by krista

What is your love?

Is it fleeting like the like of a rose?

Is it as constant as a star?

Or is it a passion that burns like the sun?

Who do you love?

Is it the family who is always there?

Is it the friends who are family?

Or is it that somebody who is special to you?

How do you love?

Do you put your heart on the front line?

Do you hide your heart from danger?

Or, just maybe, do you love like I love?

My love, my love

The way I love, the way I’ve loved

It’s the love of the fragile heart.

My love is the kind that’s not afraid to love.

Love is cruel

One must feel it to know what I mean.

It is so wonderful at first

Then you wake and realize that the love is gone.

I had this love.

It was first love, it was a painful love

Friends said stop but I did not.

Moments like those help you realize who cares about you

Then there was another

A gentle soul suffering as I was suffering

Two friends unable to say the words

Two broken hearts unable to take the very first step.

Then he was there

His only wish was to love me for me

Loving him was safe for my heart

I’m planning to love him until the end of time.

I need to say sorry

To the men unlucky to have loved me

To the men that I have loved

And to the people that have been hurt by love.

Thoughts:
I like this piece. It says a lot about your feelings of love. I admire the heart you put into it. I especially like how you asked the what, who, and how of love. I felt like you were asking both yourself as the author and I, the reader. I loved this line, "A gentle soul suffering as I was suffering." It reminded me of the film V for Vendetta, where he's giving his speech on TV "If you see as I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you seek as I seek."

Constructive Criticism:
I couldn't really find anything to critic on it. It's good as it is.
