I pulled off. I waited for a sign, any sign, just to make sure I didn’t kill her. She was breathing. That’s always good. But she showed no sign that she felt the pain either. She didn’t even stir from her sleep. It was almost like she was used to the pain.

It wasn’t long until I found myself staring at my Alice that I had known and loved. My vampire Alice, she had the same small features and her hard skin. I could only imagine her blood-shot eyes though.
I was about to try and wake her but then I heard a low enraged growl. Looking up—James’ red eyes stared back at me—furious.
