A Chapter by Krissy

“Father, where are we?” Her small voice trembling.
“Come Mary.”
She approached the old tower hesitantly, as if she knew there was something bad.
“Come Mary.” Her father snapped.
“But, Father, there is something wrong. The future, it has gone black.”
“I’m not surprised, Mary, come on.”
“Father, what is this?”
“We are at an Asylum. It’s where freaks of nature, like you, belong.” He cursed, hatred pouring from his body.
Her eyes were wide from shock. I felt the wound in her emotions, he had struck low. “No,” She whispered.
He marched over to where she was standing and hit her across the back of her head. She fell to the ground, trembling. He picked her up and dragged her the rest of the way into the dark building.
He dropped her onto the ground when he came to a desk in the dark musky room.
The old man looked up from the book he was reading and greeted him. “Good Evening, how can I help—“
“Listen,” He snapped, “This girl is a freak, and deserves to be treated that way. Just tell me what you need so I can leave her here.”
The old man smiled, it didn’t seem human. “You have come to the right place then. Name?”
“Mary Alice Brandon.”
The old man scribbled it down on a piece of paper, nodding. “Will you be coming for visits?”
“No,” he said darkly. “This girl is dead to our family.”
The old man nodded, smiling. He looked up, seeing me in the back hiding in the shadows. “You must be the new boy.” He said, mistaking me for somebody else. “Take this girl to cell number 623.”
I nodded, not wanting to correct the old man if it meant staying with Alice.
I walked over to her limp body on the ground. Then stopped, her blood smelled so good, and I was so close.
No. I thought, trying to clear my head. I can’t kill her she’s Alice. My dearest love. How could I want to kill her!?! Clearing my head I reached down and picked her up carefully.
“Come on boy, she isn’t human, drag her.” The old man snapped.
I looked up at the old man; he wasn’t going to be convinced easily. So I did as I was told and dragged her carefully into the back doorway. As soon as she was blocked from eyesight I picked her up, and breathing through my mouth, I carried her down the hall.
Her cell wasn’t hard to find. It was far but wasn’t that bad. But what I did notice was the first cells were nicer and clean. But as I went down they became older, darker and filthier.
Her cell was one of the filthiest. I was displeased to see her living conditions. But setting her down carefully, I clean off the best I could from the hard piece of wood that was her bed. Still breathing through my mouth I noticed my hunger growing. I grabbed what little self control I had while lifting her onto the bed. I was going to need to hunt soon.
A rat scurried across the floor and before I knew what I was doing, it was drained of blood in my hand. Looking at the dead carcass I smiled, it wasn’t much, but it would help. I discarded the rat out the door way and returned to trying to help Alice out as much as possible.
I was about to go searching for some blankets when she stirred.  I moved over to her slowly. Her eyes fluttered opened and she groaned.
“Are you okay, Miss?” I asked gently.
She looked at me, sorrow surrounding the atmosphere. “It wasn’t a dream, was it?” She asked painfully. “I’m in an Asylum aren’t I?”
I nodded solemnly.
“I saw it coming, I really did, it’s just…” She looked at me afraid now. “You’re going to torture me now, because of my visions.”
I smiled. “No, I won’t torture you, but they will. It might be best to keep your mouth shut.”
She nodded seriously.
“NEW BOY!” Both Alice and I cringed, hearing the old man call.
“I have to go.” I whispered. “I’ll bring you back some blankets.”
She nodded, and I got up and walked towards the door. And as I left, I felt a wave of hopelessness fall over her. That had to be the most painful thing I have ever felt.
