This was an odd situation if you ask me. My entire family is stuck in 1920 in an old village somewhere on the east coast. Odd, was an understatement really. My brother, Edward was looking around, amused. Apparently minds in the 1920s were more interesting than the ones back at home. Bella was clinging to him, her eyes wide. Emmet and Rose didn’t seem too nervous over anything; they just kept walking with the rest of us. Carlisle and Esme were in front leading… somewhere. My Alice was hoping around excitedly. It wasn’t everyday she could get to see the past which would bring the future which was the past to us… now I’m just confusing myself….I hate time travel. But I couldn’t disagree, the emotions from this time period where different, and had a strange flavor. It was interesting. So as we walked around lost, I lagged in the back, amused.
That was when I smelled her.
I had never smelled blood so good, so tempting. Her blood smelled like crisp roses. I could feel my mouth water, thinking of the taste. These emotions that ran through me were so cruel and lustful. All I wanted was her blood. But these emotions were familiar. It was Edward’s emotions, when he first smelled Bella. I could feel them, much stronger in my own body.
I stopped, turning toward her smell. She was walking alone, easier prey, easier to lull her away from everyone, easier to kill. I took a step and stopped, looking back to the rest of my family, walking way, they hadn’t noticed I was gone. They wouldn’t notice for a couple more minutes.
I vaguely wondered why Edward hadn’t read my mind and noticed, but like me he was enjoying the new minds of this new world. His emotions betrayed nothing of noticing my thoughts.
I left. I ran to where she was, trying to keep a human pace. But as I reached her, I heard someone call out. “Mary!”
She looked up to where an older man came toward her. His face was guarded and he had a slightly guilty conscience coming from around him.
“Hello father.” She said kindly.
I took a double-take at the sound of her voice. It was like bells, and so familiar.
“Child, come with me.” He whispered. His emotions were fearful.
“Okay.” She said again, with that voice.
Her father was silent as he led her to where-ever he was going. She babbled about little things, but as she spoke waves of hatred flowed from her father’s body.
“Father!” She said animated. “I had another vision!”
Her father’s waves of hatred and distaste for her became more pronounce. “What was this one about?” He asked, his anger seeping through his voice.
“It was dark, and it was painful, cold too. I couldn’t quite make it out. It was depressing, there wasn’t any life.”
“Really,” Her father said, not amused.
Then I saw it, the pieces all came together, and as I followed them I was quite certain I was following my love, my Alice, to her death sentence.
