X-Men

X-Men

A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

Bad news makes us or breaks us...its all about perspective.

"

The black and white letter

Contained big, bold words

Written by a foreign tongue

Plagued by the absence of emotion.

Cellular mutation

Discovered under the slides;

Scientific facts couldn’t stem the shock

Radiating from each callous syllable.

Knowing is not always a blessing

These mutations incited fear

“Pre-cancerous” is not a word that offers hope

It only slams the door on a guinea pigs cage.

The bright and beautiful light

That serves as beacon

As I tread through…

X-Men have nothing on me.

Hi Kristin. I wanted you to know that I read and you have my compassion and admiration for what's it worth. A brave write. And well-penned as always.

ONe needs to be very brave to be diagnosed as being in a pre cancerous stage and then write about it.And this you have done through this poem. '"cellular mutation.......radiating from each callous syllable."and ''knowing is not always......a word that offers hope."shows how people dread this disease.Hats off to you,Kristin.THis is a poem worth saving.

Great attitude towards something that is becoming all too common. Take charge of your life always do with it what you will, whether you have one day, one month, one year or a lifetime. Keep up the fight and continue to inspire others as well.

This is a brave and well-written piece. Those mutations do not have to win; but you are right that sometimes ignorance is indeed bliss. Strong positive thoughts headed in your direction, Kristin...
