Under the Midnight Sky

Under the Midnight Sky

A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

We create our own destiny

"

On this dark, lazy night

When the clock strikes midnight

And its chimes ring like cannon fire

Through the cool, crisp air

The sound will be tenderly caressed

By a freckled veil of lovely lace

Hovering like a diamond and rhinestone painting

Above our usual place

Instead of consuming endless jolts of caffeine

That perpetuate nothing more than a dismal “buzz”

Let’s blow this stagnant popsicle stand

Void of tomorrow’s dreams

I’m tired of sifting through the hour glass

Like someone else’s sand

I want to succumb to the extreme

In hopes that it will deliver my dreams

Tonight, let’s commander our destiny!

An eternity can be spent waiting for that moment,

That one perfect moment

But if you keep waiting while life passes you by

Eventually, you’ll get left behind;

Life waits for no one, not even patiently

On the fringe, or in the mix

It doesn’t really matter

Can’t you see?

As long as destiny is ignored

Love will always be the over sung hero

Swooping in to deliver quivering hearts

Salvation from loneliness, nothing more.

Fear lives to be the villain I was born to kill - -

Life lived in shades of fear containing a swift death,

The duality in me will fight until there’s nothing left.

Self loathing exists to silently mocks us all,

The mirror casts reflections sharper than a fleshing knife

In their ripples lies the place where childhood was lost

And the helpless cell where our dreams are trapped.

But tonight, on this dark, lazy night

When the clock strikes midnight

Under a freckled veil of lovely lace

Where destinies are foretold

We can take control.

Using rough shards of carbon

Borrowed from the brilliant sky

We’ll carve the path our hearts have always known

The path that lifts us to our purpose

And repeals the negativity that’s hooked into our skin

So that we may finally know what it means to fly.

Loved the message that is portrayed here. Some of your rights show just how strong you are and are a huge inspiration to a lot of people. The truth behind your words make it even more real and the fact that you write from your heart; the passion and honesty show that it's real. I loved it, you done an amazing job!
