![]() If You Were RealA Poem by Kristin Lee![]() We accept the love we think we deserve![]() You are an image sent from God Your very existence shakes my facade If you were to open your loving arms I would gladly fall into you… If only you were real. Anxiety and anger Have pushed me To the brink of madness Lost and lonely In the middle of a pristine world I wander; A wounded warrior With no sword and no purpose. I swear - these shadows - they’re alive. They follow my every foot step With unseen eyes Bitter sweet desires, Born from dark and delirious thoughts, Permeate the light; Unsatisfied with just invading Every waking moment, They too must steal my sleep Tainting all they can. I serve as the footstool of demons Void of all compassion Hope has become a distant memory Courage has become the enemy Days are long Nights are cold Everything’s been ruined By this toxic and unyielding despair Everything, but you. The hand reaching through the dark Willing to overlook the horrible things I’ve done Willing to be my hope Willing to be my courage. Please, Open your loving arms And I will gladly fall into you… If only you were real. © 2013 Kristin LeeAuthor's Note
