Nightmare

Nightmare

A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

A journey through the dark night into a new day.

"

Cold, so cold.

Seeping into my bones and wrapping me in icy chains.

I’m sinking

Deeper and deeper.

I succumb to the tendrils caressing me.

They are pulling me down

In the recesses of my mind I know, I must get away. But, the seduction is so sweet

Cold, so cold.

I can’t breathe!

I must escape!

Panic shoots through me like fire scorching me alive!

Burning so fast with no where to go.

My only thought is to GET AWAY!!!!!

Heat is chasing me,

Dogging my every move.

Running, running, running!

Foot falls hard and furious,

Thoughts racing, heart ready to rip from my chest.

I can hear the fire closing in, a whisper swift and vicious intent on murder.

Right before the heat encompasses me I hold my breath against the lurid stench and pray.

If I could see the light, I pray that all would be all right.

As swift as dying I am born.

Light encompasses me,

And I am warm

Warm, so warm.

Seeping into my bones and wrapping me in a new day

A powerful peice. Very strong imagery and sensory language is apperant throughout. There are many interpretations of the work, making it very thought-provoking. I can almost see myself experiencing such a nightmare, a vivid and disturbing one, as you have made quite apperant, then waking up in a cold sweat to the light of a new day. Such is the power of the extreme sensory language used.

Sleep Paralysis can be controlled and even mastered from the Lucid dreaming state.
You can fight your demons with your eyes open and your mouth closed.
You can free your spirit even when bound by hellish shadows who really are mere illusions of another lifetime.

Writing your experience for the benefit of many.
A poet with a gift, a knack that's uncanny.

It reads and 'feels' like a horrid nightmare, but it also has a feeling of rebirth about it...we sink to great depths, panic, regain our composure, then,we are saved. This is so much more than a nightmare, great read.

Wow, I found myself holding my breath as I read this. Very dark and eerie with a touch of noir. You seem to like writing on the darker side.
