Success

This is a poem from my soul and heart.....

Someone said earning honour is success ,

Other said earning money is success , 

Yet another said earning position in society is success ,

But i said

Earning happiness is what is success.

                                                                 Success is the enchanting word ,

                                                                 the bewildering noun ,

                                                                 the horrifying feeling ,

                                                                 and the beautiful treasure.

For what a student wakes till night

Takes water on his sleepy face and again studies ,

A dancer though tired

practices his dance ,

A musician pains his throat

But again and again sings his song ,

This is success.

                                                               The meaning of success might vary ,

                                                                But the centre of attraction it offers

                                                                is the same be it Anne or Mary ,

                                                      

Someone wise said

Running behind money is what makes you mad

but in every work searching for satisfaction , 

is what makes your every reaction a successful action.........

I like how you define success. I don't think you should do something to seek out the finance...but they say do what you love and the money will follow, I still think that isn't necessarily success. I think just doing what you love is. I think you said it well my friend...very well.

You are SO right that success can be quantified in so many ways; we all have OUR definition in our minds and that success is what drives us...and sometimes drives us MAD. Your definition of success (earning happiness) is so remarkable because too many of us forget that happiness, for us and family and friends, is our ultimate goal...and that we hope that our happiness leads to goodness which leads to a better world. Happiness is success, but success brings about happiness. They are one, it's like you're taking a synonym. In order to be happy your goals should be fulfilled and you have to realize how lucky you are, and at that moment you are successful as well.

Success is a nice and as you said enchanting concept, but if it is thought of as a goal and main motivation, it gives rise to too many people who in their vanity strive to be better than others and make this pursuit their sole point of existence. I prefer to see it as a pleasant side effect rather than as driving force. You present the topic which is mentioned so often nowadays really well. Nice poem and thanks for giving me something to think about!
