Pieces of Me

Pieces of Me

A Poem by Kori Ricketts

Walking, Falling, Gone

Walking
Your back has become so familiar,
I yearn it more than your face.
Your hair cascades unto your shoulders and a stranger you have become.
Your not who I once loved, knew, yearned.
But,
Yet, even still, you are who I love, know and yearn.

Falling
In my mind there is no separation of the two.
Just one vessel:
Me, then you.
But still we engage in this dance of love trying to direct one another in this single vessel.
You, me, we…it fades in my head.
Ticking, that constant ticking, signifying when you shall leave.
Forever is measured by how long things stay in tact,
For as things change or seem to,
Forever fades, like the time promised by it.

My mind, heart, soul, all in tune…Rare
Loving, knowing, yearning…You
Forever
You, me, we…Dancing
Ticking, fading, gone…Love

Gone
Maybe again you will dance, love replacing me.
And I, alone, am a vessel.
Time elapsed and you left…Me…loving, knowing, yearning…for this strange thing called love, yet forgetting.
That day, when your back became more familiar than your gorgeous face,
You took the last piece…
Of me.
