I'm Not In the Mood for Writing...

Wrote this freshman year on a day in class when I was frustrated because I simply could not get words out. I think we've all experienced this writer's block at some point, yes? Just go with it :)

I'm not in the mood for writing,

The words won't come to my mind.

This pencil, it writes; my head, it fights,

But they still leave all ideas behind.

I'm not in the mood for writing,

This prompt is too hard to endure.

It's detailed, concise; the ideas are nice,

But my stories fall through to the floor.

I'm not in the mood for writing,

My fingers are cramped as can be.

The tale is there; it seems ready to share,

But my hand just won't work properly.

I'm not in the mood for writing,

I don't get enough sleep for my age.

My eyelids, they droop; my fingers, they swoop,

Leaving nothing but a scribbled-up page.

I'm not in the mood for writing,

My thoughts seem to be elsewhere.

People's pencils are scratching; ideas are hatching...

Well, I guess it's this piece that I'll share!
