mother

mother

A Poem by tori

In the shadow of your holy cross
is where I stand
buried under all the love
you gave too late

In the shadow of your holy cross
is where I stand before you,
incomplete and scared

I wonder how many times you even thought
about my broken heart
and if only a mother's heart would be what they say
no holy cross's shadow would make you put me in the dark

In the shadow of your holy cross
I tried to tell you
who I was
But if I speak just one more word
in the shadow of your holy cross
you leave my dead

In the shadow of your holy cross
I trusted you
with all my tears, gave you
my sense of self

and in the shadow of your holy cross
you put me,
for you did not know the words
I speak to you

In the shadow of your holy cross
don't try to find me now
In the shadow of your holy cross
is where I disappear.
