Silent Farewell

Silent Farewell

A Poem by Krystina
"

The poem is written from the point of view of the help and meant to take place in the past on a winter night.

"

The snow fell in rhythm

I kept to my household duties

Temperatures quickly dropped with the frost

He slipped out unnoticed

Minutes became hours with no return

The mother left in search of her son

Minutes became hours once more

She returned with a bundle in her arms

Unveiled was a boy nearly frozen

She held his small frail body

His pale figure shook in her grasp

The cold seeped in through the window

The life had slowly left him

I listened to the deafening silence

Still she held his lifeless body

Caressing his disheveled and matted hair

Her sobs were silent and peaceful

She denied his death as sleep

All she loved in her world had vanished

Losing her will, she joined her son in sleep

This is meant to be free style. Please ignore grammatical errors, my grammar is horrible. I know it's kinda sad, it was written on a day that just wouldn't stop snowing.

This is sad, but life isn't always happy - and it's a sweet reminder of the love a mother has for her child.
