How can we not love them? And still, we destroy them one by one.

"
Ancient gracefulness.
The advocate of peace.
Humble in its success.
An existence, impossible to cease.
Unimpressed by elapsed time.
Witness of so many a crime.
The proud bearer of its own crown
eventually cut down
by artificial hand
born in nature’s land.
