The General

The General

A Poem by BlueLagoon
"

"13ft Fall suggested I do a Mobius-style poem, so I thought "Hell, why not?" Background: A Mobius-Style poem is mainly where the last line continues into the first line so the poem never ends.

"

hardened by the loss of so many comrades

detached, cold, isolated, forever

dreaming of their terrifying deaths

horror, pain, stress, always

planning his next twenty moves

thinking, sleeping, rising up, mourning

rallying the troops and sending them to the battlefield

vigor, bloodshed, casualties, afternoon

seeing dead soldiers march out of existence

one-by-one, vanishing, broken-hearted, night

making calls home to deliver the news

regret, sorrow, understanding, twilight

remembering the oath to serve and protect

solace, rest, determination, dawn

keep moving forward through all of the chaos

perseverance, trust, faith, mourning

approaching the enemy with new-found resolve

vigor, bloodshed, casualties, afternoon

grief that would break an ordinary man but he’s a

strong, brave, fearless, general

Love it!
Using sets of words has worked very well for this piece.
Is quite a spectacular way to teach words too, if you ask me.
