Silence PsalmA Poem by Kyle DoudCommission from my friend Sam Herbig. Actually one of my favorites that I've written.Sew my
lips with barbed wire and
deafen me with silence that I
might hear Thy voice from the
wakening day to my
moon-late vespers; yet Thou
sayest nothing. Thunderous
silence hath stricken my soul; I cannot
know Thee. Even music
rings bitter in my heart, echoing
hollow, resounding in the deep. Thou
hast left hence"why hast Thou gone from me? What
wrongs have I wrought? If Thou
wouldst but name them, I would remove them from me, but Thou
hast forsaken me.
But,
hast Thou forsaken me? O, but
when I stumble in the night, Who hath
made it? O, but
when I weep in the morning hours, Who hath
conceived even my tears? O, and
when I am lost in silence, Whose
words yet ring in my ears? Lo, from
silence I shall find Thine
answers in my turbulent mind. So have
I no grievances to bring? No; but
I have more reasons to sing than
stars that hangeth in the sky. © 2015 Kyle Doud |
