Suburbia

Suburbia

A Story by queenofkooks

Fray  had just awoken to the chimes of the bell tower which read five AM; she cautiously attempted to stand up from the cold, wet, ground and began recollecting the events from the previous night. Preparing herself to stand, she suddenly felt a sharp stinging pain in her left foot and bit her bottom lip to withstand the pain; she then peered down at her foot, it was blistered and pale. Ignoring the pain, she held onto the nearest pipe, managed to leave the dark alley and catch a cab in the empty street.
"1605 Oswald, please" murmured Fray.
"That's quite the distance ma'am" said the cab driver.
"I have the fare, just drive." she demanded. The man then drove to an isolated suburban community sealed off by a large, stone wall. Upon entering the community, Fray pulled down her skirt to increase its length and thanked the driver.
"You're welcome," he began, "But, I strongly advise you not to return to the city again, madam." She glared at the driver then responded, "And I assure you that I can handle myself."
The cab drove away leaving a cloud of gas behind. Fray limped to her front porch, keeping her head down to stay unnoticed by the neighbors, sat on the porch swing, and began observing the foot again; running her fingers across the many blisters.

Please ignore any grammar errors, don't leave any negative comments about in-completion because I'm already working one a second part that would fit this story better than my previous draft, I just want some kind positive feedback.
thank you :))
p.s.
Don't steal this essay for an English or ELA assignment...
