YouA Poem by kookoobananasfor someone who is specialAs I lie awake Head pressed into my Pillow Kneecaps and shins Lining the wall To help regulate my Temperature I think of you And all of the sensations That great poets and writers alike Have ever put down in words Hit me At the same time ‘Weak knees, shortness of breath, a tremor in your chest’ Like symptoms Like carefully classified Steps Like a guide to Help me identify a Diagnosis And I count them off Instead of sheep And they keep me Company And in the mornings I wake And the smile is almost Automatic Like a sensory Reaction To the simple thought of ‘You’ © 2013 kookoobananasAuthor's Note
