Realization

Realization

A Chapter by Konoha
"

I called it 'Realization' because Mikazuki makes an important realization about the world around her.

"

They walked around Konoha for a while until it became darker and the sun had already set; leaving only bright violets and pinks in the sky. Naruto stopped and looked at the girl trailing behind them. Mikazuki had her head hung low enough that her shoulders could've touched her stomach if it was possible. "Mika, is there something we could do help?" Naruto asked in a sypathetic voice. She looked up and kind of shrugged.

Sakura seemed in some sort of daze. She's almost like Sasuke...she lost everyone she cares about in tragedy...except she's the opposite of him.  Naruto seemed to be thinking the same thing. "Naruto-kun? Why did you shorten my name?" Mikazuki asked quietly. He rubbed the back of his head as if thinking of a good explaination.

"It's because I already consider you a friend...and it's a nick name. Friends have nick names to strenghten the bond people have." He said with a grin; she lifted her head and smiled weakly.

"Well I think it's time I went back...I'll see you guys tomorrow. Oh and thanks Naruto-kun for trying...it's nice." Mikazuki said and she turned to leave. All the way home, glimpes of all her friends flashed in her mind. Tears slid down her cheek and she brushed them away cursing herself because of her weakness.

She unlocked the door and sighed deeply; she was hungry because she hasn't eaten for a while. Her stomach growled in protest. She needed something to eat, so she searched the cupboards. There was nothing. The fridge, she thought. It had to have something...still nothing. Her stomach growled louder and she slid down on the couch. "I'm going to die here," she complained aloud. A knock at the door interupted her complaining. She walked slowly to the door and saw a teenage boy with shaggy black hair and he was holding a large paper bag that was stapled at the top. "Can I help you?" she asked not knowing what to say.

"Sorry," he said; he was looking at the carpeted hallway floor, "but I brought you some food." She took the bag and looked inside. There was at least a week's worth of food in it.

"Thank you so much!" she exclaimed joyfully and her empty stomach growled once more. She averted her eyes; feeling embarrassed. "So...what's your name, I should be able to thank you properly after all." She said while putting the groceries away in their respectful places.

"Oh, my name is Koichi; I heard your name already...you know town gossip and all. I'm so sorry for everything you lost." He said sincerly; for the first time since his arrival, she actually got a good look at him. She studied his appearence carefully, he had shaggy black hair that just covered his forehead. His eyes were a  hazel colour that mirrored his personality. He was dressed casually and a headband with the Leaf insignia directly on his forehead, barely showing underneath his hair.

"You know, you're the first person that actually talked to me like I've been through tragedy! Everyone else doesn't know what it's like to loose everything and everyone they care about!" Mikazuki said angrily. Small tears or anger and frustration slide down her cheek, she brushed them away quickly.

"Well, actually...my mother died when I very young, I can bearly remember her now" Koichi chuckled softly at some forgotten memory. Mikazuki looked up appauled with herself. Other people suffer too, not just me she realized.

Tears fell down her cheek again; she felt as though frozen in stone and couldn't move a muscle. "Hey, don't be crying at my expense," Koichi said panicked. "It not that sad and you just met me." He laughed a little and walked over to her side; he brushed her tears away gently. She looked at him strangely, then darted her eyes away quickly.

"I hate crying," she said quietly, her voice almost a whisper. "It makes me feel...weak. I don't want to cry anymore!" Her voice was growing stronger as if she made a secret promise to herself. Mikazuki turned to face the shocked teenager, "let's go out somewhere, I don't care where...just somewhere." She grabbed his hand and dragged him out of her apartment; he was so shocked by her sudden personality change that he was stuttering a little. Koichi managed to close the door behind them.
