Chapter one of a FMA story I worte, it's actually a combination of 1 & events from 2. It's definitely longer than it was on Quizilla....And it has a different title.

Lightning flashed and it started to rain; Edward Elric and his younger brother, Alphonse, was gald that they found a town to stay in for the night. Edward was sitting on the hard, lumpy bed the inn provided. He looked up at the ceiling, "couldn't have found a better place than this?" he wondered aloud. Alphonse looked at him and chuckled.
"Well, Ed, it's your fault for spending the money we had." Alphonse said quietly. Ed looked at his brother and sighed. It's been so long already, but the memories of that night still haunted his mind. Another flash of lightning brought Edward back to reality. Alphonse stood up, he was encased in a giant suit of armor; but in reality, there was nothing but a single rune etched in blood. Edward stretched out on the bed.
Edward also suffered from the fateful night, but not as much as Alphonse did. Not at all. It was a stormy night just light this Edward thought to himself. The night our lives changed from a mistake that we make. Edward looked at his auto-mail arm and leg. It was in good condition considering what they've been through. Al, I will get back your original body back. I swear even if it's the last thing I do.
"Ed? What are you thinking about?" Alphonse asked his brother. Edward grined and pushed it aside. "Nothing," he said, "try to get some rest. We have a long day tomorrow." It stormed throughout the night, but in the morning, the sun was warm and welcoming to the strange boys that didn't belong anywhere.

The inn keeper waved goodbye to them as they left after breakfast that morning, the boys waved back and continued on their way. "Brother, where are we going next?" Alphonse asked quielty. Edward looked ahead. "To a place where there's a rumor Al about the Stone, it's not much to go on...but I heard the it's in a small town South of Central." Edward was distracted and looked down at his feet. He wasn't looking where he was going and tripped over a rock.
Alphonse chuckled quietly and Edward dusted himself off. From a distance they heard a girl shouting for help. Casting a quick glance at one another they ran to see what was going on. Two men were cornering a girl in an alleyway, they were much bigger than she was and not a fair advantage that they had weapons.

"Hey! Leave her alone!" Edward shouted, the men seemed startled to see someone watching them. Using alchemy on his automail arm, the men ran away frightened; not looking back at them once. Edward stepped closer to the girl, who flinched. "Hey, it's alright. I'm not going to hurt you."

The girl had dark eyes and tanned skin, her hair was the colour of sand. She bowed low on the ground like a slave to their master. "Please, why did you save me? I am no more than a slave girl. You are an alchemist; anyone with eyes and sense can see that." She said still low on the ground. Edward help her stand.

"You don't mind being treated like a dog? Your tail between your legs whenever your master calls! You look human to me." Edward shouted, his temper was getting the best of his judgement and the girl hung her head low in shame.

"My name is Layla, I don't want to be a slave anymore...those men were my master's. He sent them to get me back. Please! I don't know where you're going...but take me with you!" She said desperately. Alphonse looked at Layla with sympathy; she didn't seem to question his appearence like so many have before.

"You can't come with us, but at least to another town." Edward said slipping off his jacket and put it on the girl. "You'll need a disguise first; in case more men are still searching for you." She thanked him and they left the alley without being noticed.
