Running

Running

A Poem by Courtney

 I used to go running.

Put on my windshorts and go.

Out the door and down the street

Wind in my face.

I thought about books,

life and opportunities up ahead.

The possibilities just around the corner

seemed endless.

I thought about friends,

what fun I would have that night,

and for the rest of my college years.

How great life was.

Fall after fall.

The blacktop, my drumset

to set the beat to the life I loved.

Anxious and excited.

My solo race finished,

Time no longer stands still,

but refreshed and ready once again.

My mind free.

Now I don't go running.

Terrified to be left alone

with desperate thoughts of you,

and what might've been.

It's amazing how losing a love can change your whole outlook and effect your daily routine... all the sudden everything you loved to do you can't find the will to do... very effective piece with strong emotions.

It took a turn in that last verse that I wasn't expecting.

Very nice descriptions throughout. :D

I like it! I'm going to put it in my library.
