Existence

Short Story

I entered the hospital, yet it felt strange going around as a patient. I've been diagnosed with cancer for quite some time. Even if I hadn't met him, I would have felt anguish in my head.
I continued walking as time ran out. A girl dressed in a light brown cardigan and a patient's attire approached me. As she got closer, her restless eyes locked on mine. I gasp for air, and sweat drips down my spine; I shiver at the sight.

Death is normal for her. She died and was reborn in the same body and life. As a result, she is life. She is a god, but she is hidden on Earth as a kid who suffers from the same sorrow over and over. Because of us people, it goes nowhere and never improves. But life still loves us since she is the one who created us, thus she loves us. 

She, too, made "him." 

"I-I don't know what to do.." My voice cracked when I protested. "I pretend like I'm not going to die but I also know deep down that I am going to die..." "I also don't want to see him go away because once I die and make the wish, he vanishes as well..." She glances at me with tired eyes, then smiles rictus. She said something. "There is a way to save him, if you are up to it."

I was astounded by the knowledge that had just been delivered to me. 

"However, under one condition, you will have no memory of this life." It's the only way to keep him from disappearing." She coughed abruptly at the conclusion of her statement. She also discovered that she had coughed up blood in her palm. 

Stunned. I stood there paralyzed, unable to speak. "I don't have much time." So make a rapid decision." She coughed once more after saying that. Knowing that I'm out of options, I question, "Will it be different if I choose this?" She went on to say, "It won't make a difference, because you'll still face the same fate." I hesitated for a few minutes. My eyes feel watering, my chest feels tight. Breathing was getting harder for me. I didn't know what to do or who to choose. I wipe my tears and spoke, "Yes." 

"I will do anything for him." Then a light flashed in front of my eyes. And I realized I'd been yeeted back in time.
