An Autumn Family Tree

An Autumn Family Tree

A Poem by K.N. Thorn
"

Family, love, and laughter.

"
A golden shroud sprayed in crimson
only to dry and brown in the golden sun
the wind brings a chill, gentle and fun
drink deeply my precious little son
the seasons never last as fast as you run

A perfect time to absorb the suns power
to soak in it like some take a shower
before long we'll have to stay in our tower
during a time when there will not be a flower
but we'll huddle together, reading every hour

My most sweet and beautiful daughter
to watch your fist steps to your father
I am so very proud to be your mother
to watch you sit and laugh at your brother
as the winds make our changing leaves stir

The holidays are just around the bend
to collect all the love we want to send
and even though there is plenty to mend
there are still things we ought to defend
I will always be there with a hand to lend

Oh, I just loved it!! Loved it...as fast as you can run. Oh, cannot write like this. No regrets; a smile on my face, I saw it all and it brought back some great memories. Thank you so very much K.N. Thorn.

Thank you both for the reviews. When I got up this morning I felt I needed a good Autumn poem for my collection and this is what came out of my head with some true feelings and thoughts mixed in of course. I am glad you enjoyed it. :)

the very first stanza, particularly the very first line, really did it for me.

There is such a great use of imagery in this poem! You have used some really effective techniques of poetry writing and your rhyming scheme works really well. Good job!
