And She Was GoneA Poem by Knij NagiliThis was written at the height of my teenage angst years, around when I was 14-15.Some say she’s a freak Others say she’s a deviant Whatever they think she is They never will understand People walk past her As if she didn’t exist Ignored by everyone But ever present as the mist Cold and alone With no one to turn to Left to live her nightmare What reality is, she has no clue The mirror gave her Nothing but lies Even her shadow Away from her it flies Tormented by her feelings Scarred deep with hatred and strife Until one day she decides To take her own life The four-walled room Bore witness to it all Everything that was dear to her And the glorious sun of fall Scribbled in her blood, a message: “Finally, I did something right You have never noticed me So I’ll stay permanently out of sight” That one time Everyone wept for her The girl who took her life One cold morning in October
