birthdays are not allowed on resumesA Poem by knightcallspinning on the equator shuffling between day and night tomorrow is my birthday ain't nobody gonna gift me a job give me a rock that belongs in a cradle this chair seems to contain me decisions haunt me before they are made answering every phone call drinking black bubbly water i need the caffeine i need an impulse today a neighbor stared at me like i had no purpose i wanted to show him i have some left in my fist his daddy had a street named after him that pansy forgets the time i spent in suits a man cannot control his fate anymore than he can control his spirit i have to slip out of this iron mask get inside a locked door and so far my life is reduced to paper one paper in a tall pile what can i do to convince you i'm a man and not pulp and ink i can't replay every conversation every conversation i've had with strangers can i capture a listen x-ray my life experience i wish for a revolution one moment of a choice is there a monster in your briefcase? some message clawing to get out? you and me have an international date line it's not just paper now corporate cowboy
