the no voltage poems 4 of a series of 5 artificial

A Poem by knightcall

hey lady with the artificial hair
getting into that white station wagon
you almost make me forget
i have no power
lord knows i have
switching and clicking switches all day

i saw a KCPL truck on my block
maybe he's there to get my hopes up
push up some wires so they work again
i say power is fragile
some storm comes around
bullies it to the ground

i'm running on some batteries
flying on airplane mode
it's hard to say in an electronic age
has my account been cleaned out
ooh we need a spark connecting us
spin the meter and watch the electricity of chemistry

i wait for the wire
i wait for the hum
watching a drop fall down
the frozen lemonade
i smuggled in from the inside

it's too hot to start a fire
too quiet to sing my favorite song
the stubble on my face
makes those weekend women swoon
i'd invite you over my friend
but this outage knows no end
