The no voltage poems 5 of 5. Little darlin

A Poem by knightcall

my little darlin
the rain has knocked out the power
knocked down the cell tower
i pull on a string to
pull my garage door open and
the string breaks in my hands
it breaks it my hands

so in the darkness
you occupy my mind
you don't need light to do it
through the pores of my skin
you seep through it

i see the branches torn
and returned to the ground
the smell of gasoline floats through the air
between the vibrations of chainsaws
neighbors talking about the weather
you would think they have more in common
people in elevators talk about the weather

i wish i could put my hands on you
and heal you
but that distinction was held long ago
and i'd probably have to heal myself
before i could heal muscle and bone
then moving on to stage fours
seventy one year old men unable to walk
all i have is powerful prayer
the healing of the spirit before the body

little darlin did i get off the path
you know i can change subjects
quicker than i can change the paper towels
i sit here amongst the ripped
i wish i could shred the distance and
find my electricity again

Wow I have burn out just reading this poem.
How can we be someone's electricity, when we're
Only flesh and bone as all people are.
I can't imagine how hard it is to
Visit and assist spiritually
The ill and the dying.
Hats off to your poem
and your profession.
I don't think I could
have the strength.
