congratulations you're unemployed

congratulations you're unemployed

A Poem by knightcall

lying here fighting off sleep
although i slept 'til noon
it's just a game
this sickness keeps playing with me
for a week  i was handed glory
they spoke of my devotion
my long journey and handed me my walking paper
a certificate embossed with the hospital seal

sometimes i think what i got
i got from the hospital floors
but i know
the neighborhood has it
and it had it before me

this is the worst thing to have
waiting on calls from
those who might fill my pockets
i'm not good with transition
but i'll gladly transition to healthier place
not wonder about broken interviews
and opportunities rushed away with
runs to a safer place

around me is a world broken and torn
i guess i fit right in
for now
the pile of dry cleaning remains stagnant
i mean where's it supposed to go

i wish life was like a snowball
easily shaped and reformed
i could fit into someone's new plans
shine up the suits and
knock on somebody's new door

it's been four hospitals
three of them belong together
you gave us your hours
we gave you an education
your account has been closed
welcome to graduation and unemployment all at once

'i wish life was like a snowball
easily shaped and reformed'
These two lines are so simply effective, they ache. A lot of this would resonate with a lot of people
