same places

same places

A Poem by knightcall

they sung my praises at the chapel
waited 'til i was the final person
gave me my certificate
fed us lunch and
sent us away
apparently to stay
i counted down the days to this transition
now i need to get inside
another man's door
a perfect score on my evaluation
does not mean much
on the other side of the window
a hacksaw with its teeth up
rests insides my veins
i've seen my share of boys given blank diplomas
they missed pages
didn't do the work
so why is it that
the failure and the valedictorian are both in the same place
transition is a b***h
