you look mighty slick up on the pulpit

you look mighty slick up on the pulpit

A Poem by knightcall

walked with fences under my skin
staying up too late to
catch up to my life
i get up
hit the water and
make my way
i'm pretty good at hiding what's under my skin

my analyze is on overdrive
every little word bounces inside my head
and i get so pissed off
cause i push to get things done despite of it all
i have no tolerance for those who believe
they can come late
neglect the patients and skate
let me tell you somethin m**********r
anybody that comes closer to
hiring you is a sucker

and you're not the same as me
stop pretending that you're the same as me
whatever delusion you acquired upon the pulpit has
made you a parting gift
a con man culprit

they may have put your name upon a certificate
signed their names at the bottom
they can give it to you
i don't have to watch
i'll just spin around
yeah, i'll just spin around

i'm sure that this job requires a mind
but i'm positive a heart is a bigger qualification
today i talked again with
a man whose lost temporary use of his legs
i've spent a few days with him
he told me
all you had to do was sit down and
i told you my life story

well sometimes people tell me things
i'm not really sure why
i've never been shy
today when i left
i told him how many days i had to go
he told me he considered me to be
a dear friend
i'll put that on my certificate
another day of staying late
someday you'll f****n get it
someday you'll f****n get it
no you won't
you'll probably leave early
