ghosts in the pavement

ghosts in the pavement

A Poem by knightcall

it's one hundred and six degrees
a song comes across the speakers and
reminds me of a girl i used to know
and for a moment
i remember that feeling
faded and folded and put away

i ask you to
be patient with me
i'm getting back into the game
it seems silly to call it that
but in the end that
is what to seems to be

it's not that your voice doesn't ignite my heart
your image makes me sink inside it
how is it that i can explain
my head is so full with finishing this life
and starting a new one
sometimes i run without moving
but baby
i would never run from you

the heat has brought up ghosts from the pavement
and they all look familiar
they don't live in the moment like you do
you live in the downpour of something new
and i take the drops one at a time
no need for an umbrella
i'll soak you in slow

these lines have struck me all my life. Oh how I remember those tear jerking songs and my longing to be with some one that was emotionally unavailable.

Nice write!!! love it
