Maria

Maria

A Poem by knightcall

every day i add another grain of sand
discovering you slow is
the thing to do
i pile up messages neatly
shuffle through them and review
every grain of sand
every sparkle of you

every time i see you
my heart reignites
i hear the bells
the church tower sounds
 echoing down main street

and i don't care
if i'm misunderstood because
inside your voice
i hear understanding
and i hang from the fire escape
swinging and singing
at the apex of my lungs
serenading you like a drunken school boy

yesterday i walked past
a field of orchids
and i marveled at the unique beauty of
each and every one
and you are the same
if only in my mind
you change into another flower every day and
i wear you in my lapel
every single day
