A Poem by knightcall

i am the kind of man
some women easily overlook
some don't even see me
but i'm okay with that
knowing
the blonde nurse who's
a little bit older
who has just heard me
talk to an eighty year old man for thirty minutes
she knows me
she likes me
and really
i'm old enough not to care
if i'm going to win classroom elections anymore
and i'm not going to say that
my heart has never been broken
because it has and
surely i'll be sweeping it off the floor again
so when i stand in the back of
the elevator
blending in with the panelling
talk your tiny words
i know a higher calling
a thoroughbred kind of woman
and i'm so cool with that
i have no time for
girls who wouldn't have
voted for me in the sixth grade

Another beautifully written poem.

I liked this poem for its attitude. It reflects the maturity that comes with age. I liked the caesura in the last 3 lines. *rose* *thumbup*

this is awesome on so many levels, the insight is refreshing, the higher calling and how you fit it in packs a punch, the last line splendid...
