no room for dreams

no room for dreams

A Poem by knightcall

it's 3:01 a.m.

my eyes are betraying me

a girl got stabbed over Kool-Aid

a man coded and died in

bay number four

he lived a long good live

he was 88

i can't make sense of the state i'm in

i was asleep

then the calls came in

i called the page operator

she couldn't clue me in

she said that she usually writes these things down

but not tonight

add some confusion

mix up tonight

make the water turn from clear to bright

so i go down to the vending machines

something's got to appeal to me

give me some Zingers

i know they're not not healthy

but i need some sugar

i need some caffeine

at this time of night

i need it from a machine

i am the watchdog of this universe

i am going home in four and a half hours

i don't wear a cape

boots are unsensible

times like these make you feel indispensible

they call it a sleep room

but really there is no room to sleep

they don't turn off the batsignal

in the middle of the night

Try to find peace, my friend. If not in the waking hours, then in the sleeping ones. Aye, being a watchdog can be challenging, especially if they don't throw you a bone once in awhile. And caffeine and sugar problems? Oh boy. I know what those are like. Even if the craziness is going bananas all around you, you can find some sort of rest.

I like the "watchdog of this universe." Was thinking more in line of "master of the universe" to go along with your hero theme of late. :) I understand the batsignal not being turned off. Great write Thomas! Keep on penning.

I can understand the stress a day can put on you. Life has its ups and downs as you are well aware. It is incredible you can put your experiences into artistic form.
