The Forest

The Forest

A Poem by Imogen Knight
"

'Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented.' ~ Barry Commoner

"
Gold showering through her barricades of wood,
Creatures, adorned by light, beneath a leafy hood,
Her organic skeleton, framed by sticks and stones,
Murky ribbons of water, lacing nature's bones

Threatened by spiteful scraps of plastics and metals,
Tearing apart her fingers of fragile pink petals,
Half her body, submerged in descending smokes,
Life slowly fading, no one hears her as she chokes

First off I like the rhythm. Not much of it exists out there and it makes for fun reading. And the subject, the emotions as we see her in the forest struggling are well captured. Very nice job.

Your word choice gives your poetry a pretty unique feel and style. I found it short and sweet, but left me with a slight disconcerted feeling afterwards. Which I suspect is what you were going for. Very well done. I enjoyed it. Can't wait to see what you write next.
