Working Title: The special needs mom's proclaimation.A Poem by kmpatrickI have 4 children. All of which have some sort of special needs issue. I wrote this after a particularly rough school interaction.
Do you know what you've awakened?
The battle lines are clearly drawn. As I prepare for war. I stand alone before you, I've fought this fight before. I am unafraid, I will make blood run. Heaven help me, there is Hell to pay. I will pay that bill. Do you comprehend what's at stake? You, the "experts" whit theories and paper degrees. Me, the mom who diapered, nursed, and cared for. Me, the mom who dried his tears, dressed his wounds. I am the mom who on the Universe h as entrusted with this special spirit. See my qualifications? This is our future. I could teach you a thing or two that your education prevents you from seeing. Do you love him as much as I do? I'm not the stupid pushover parent you are used to. This isn't another meeting, just another IEP. I will not bend to your will. I will not make things convenient. It must be what's best. I will stand with all my might against the broken school, rising up for my child. Can you see his worth? The potential that lies within? This is my precious, beloved gift from God, one who has a worth beyond measure. © 2015 kmpatrick |
