Commitment Impaired

Commitment Impaired

A Poem by kmpatrick
"

I can see this becoming lyrics to a song. Think of it, put it to a classic country tune with the whine of the steel guitar.

"

You think you're the first one,

To tell me you love me,

That you're going to be here,

year after year,

I'm sorry to tell you

That I have been jaded

By too many loves whispering lies in my ear

Too many times, I've sold on these lines

only to get hurt and screwed over again

I want to believe you, and let myself keep you

But the problem is now, how do I begin?

You probably don't want to get to close to me

I'll push you away in the end

My heart is as vacant as a ghost town

and I'm alone, without even a friend.

So call me a skeptic, neurotic, dramatic

That's OK, baby maybe I am.

Please understand me, I'm not trying to hurt you

thought you should know, I'm commitment impaired
