An Email to an English Professor

An Email to an English Professor

A Poem by Kayleen
"

This is an email sonnet I sent my poetry professor to get out of the dog house. It worked.

"
Dear Professor, I'm sorry that I missed class.
I forgot about my workshop poem.
And I feel like a stupid, silly lass.
But I wouldn't have helped, so I just stayed home.
I've attached a poem and a sonnet,
which should probably be called a draft.
And I was hoping we could discuss it
before I turn it in as a finished craft.
I also have bad news, but I pray it okay.
I've a doctor's appointment in Jackson
at four in the afternoon on Tuesday.
But maybe this sonnet will make you grin.
On Monday and Wednesday I'm free after four.
On Tuesday and Thursday, your class I have nothing before.

Author's Note

Kayleen
This was simply an email. It was initially addressing the professor by name, but "professor" is the same amount of syllable and more anonymous.
